As Whitehorse City Council continues to experience rapid development growth, we are working to ensure that quality development outcomes are achieved for our community. Working in a newly created position within our high performing Statutory Planning team, this role will act as the key point of contact for all Construction Management Plan enquiries from applicants, members of the public and internal stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of the relevant legislation supporting the creation and management of Construction Management Plans combined with a customer focused attitude. Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills are essential as the role will be based both in the office and out in the field; the incumbent will be required to perform audits against approved Construction Management Plans within the municipality.

Your key responsibilities:
• Coordinate Council’s assessment process for Construction Management Plans, liaising with relevant departments and providing a timely outcome for applicants.
• Provide a proactive on-road and on-site presence to ensure compliance with Construction Management Plans across the municipality.
• Investigate and resolve queries relevant to Construction Management Plans received from members of the public.

To be successful, you will have:
• A relevant qualification and experience in Enforcement, Construction, Building Inspection, Building Surveying or other relevant discipline, ideally within a local government context.
• Knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, Building Act 1993, building regulations and relevant local laws.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the demonstrated ability to gain cooperation from members of the public and across internal departments.
• A valid Victorian driver’s licence.
